Q1: What is MyLINK?
A1: MyLINK is the way you express your interest in working at CIA by submitting your resume and providing some basic information about yourself. CIA recruiters may contact you if your qualifications meet our needs.
Q2: How is MyLINK different than a full CIA application?
A2: MyLINK allows an individual to submit their resume to express interest in working at CIA, with far less effort than completing the full application. Based on your resume, you may be invited to apply for a position at the Agency.
Q3: Why did CIA change its hiring process?
A3: We changed the process to modernize and streamline the Agency’s hiring process and help CIA recruit talented US citizens to join the Agency’s foreign intelligence mission.
Q4: After submitting my resume through MyLINK, what should I expect next?
A4: If a CIA recruiter identifies you for a potential position, they will contact you to discuss your interest. Based on interactions with you, the recruiter may invite you to submit a formal application for employment.
Q5: How will CIA contact me?
A5: CIA recruiters will use the phone number you provided on your resume for initial contact. Please set up and check your voicemail regularly and ensure your voicemail box is not full as our recruiters may attempt to leave a message. Please regularly check your text messages, to include your "spam" folder.
Q6: What is the MyLink tracking number?
A6: When you submit your resume via MyLINK, the status will show “Pending”. You can use the tracking number to check that your submission has been “Received”, which is the final status. If the status comes back as “Failed”, then a network issue likely occurred, and we did not receive your submission. If this is the case, you should resubmit your resume via MyLink. If the status comes back as “Not Found”, then you entered an invalid tracking number. If the status comes back as “Unavailable”, there is a network issue that is preventing us from providing the status of your submission and you should try again later.
Q7: How many jobs can I add to MyLINK?
A7: You may select and prioritize up to four jobs that interest you, and for which you have commensurate skills. You must select at least one job.
Q8: How often should I submit my resume and job interest?
A8: Please only resubmit your resume via MyLINK when your knowledge, skills or interests change, and it has been 90 days since prior submittal. Submitting your resume multiple times will not enhance your chances of being contacted regarding job opportunities at CIA.
Q9: How long after I submit my resume via MyLINK should I wait to hear back from CIA with a potential invitation to apply?
A9: Timing may vary. Recruiters could take up to a year to contact you following your MyLINK submission.
Q10: What if I am interested in more than four jobs?
A10: You may discuss additional job opportunities if a CIA recruiter reaches out to you. To be prepared for that possibility, you may want to make note of all CIA jobs in which you are interested.
Q11: If I already submitted my resume for a single or multiple job opportunities, can I submit my resume again to different job opportunities?
A11: Yes. If you acquire new knowledge, skills, or abilities that qualify you for different jobs than those with which you've previously expressed interest, you are welcome to resubmit a resume against those jobs.
Q12: Will I be notified if a recruiter decides not to move forward with my resume submission?
A12: We do our best to align your work experience and expertise with existing hiring needs. Unfortunately, we will not reach out to you if there is not a match with our current hiring requirements.
Q13: After submitting my resume, can I return to the form to re-order my job rankings?
A13: No. Once you submit, you will not be able to re-order your job rankings. You may discuss your job preferences if a CIA recruiter reaches out to you.
Q14: After submitting my resume, can I return to make changes to my submission?
A14: No. Your MyLINK submission is not a personal profile to be maintained over time. Please take your time and review the information you are providing to ensure it is complete and accurate before submission.
Q15: I currently have a security clearance. Will I have to go through the security clearance process again after submitting my resume through MyLINK?
A15: Yes. Regardless of any clearances you currently hold or previously held, you will be required to undergo a separate CIA background investigation and suitability review if invited to apply and subsequently receive a conditional offer of employment.
Q16: I have a disability. Who do I contact to request a reasonable accommodation to help me complete and submit a resume through MyLINK?
A16: You may contact the Agency’s Ability Talent Broker via a toll-free number [1- (866) 237-7221]. For more information about how CIA can provide you with a reasonable accommodation, please visit our page regarding accessibility.
Q17: If I am having trouble using MyLINK, how can I get technical support?
A17: If you need technical assistance with MyLINK, please contact our Help Desk by phone at 1-855-300-0043 and leave a message. A representative will call you back the next business day (Monday – Friday, 9am – 3pm EST.)
Q18: How do I find, save and review new jobs?
A18: To find jobs, navigate to "Career Opportunities" from the main CIA.gov website. On the CIA Careers page, there are multiple ways to find jobs: enter search terms in the search box, click "View all jobs", or click "Browse Jobs" on the top menu bar to open the Browse CIA Jobs page. Once on the CIA Jobs page, there are filters on the left for functional areas, student opportunities, job type, and minimum degree. To save a job, click the save flag to the right of each job title. To view saved jobs, click the "Saved Jobs" link in the top menu bar on the Browse CIA Jobs page. Note that your saved jobs are only kept during the current site session.
